HMS conceptualized the unique concept of Personnel Management, as against that of Manning Services, while defining our mission and policy. In HMS we appreciate the fact that it is the seafarer on board the vessel, who is the operator and protector of the Ship Owner’s asset. It is imperative that this is strengthened and amalgamated into the mindset of all our seafarers. HMS achieves this through the implementation and follow-up of the company’s Quality and Safety Management Culture. HMS is also an ISO 9001:2008 Certified company.
THE BEGINNING
Herald Maritime Services was established in 1991 under the dynamic leadership of Capt. R. Y. Barve and Capt. J. J. Appoo.
Capt. R. Y. Barve came ashore in 1984 to take up an assignment as Personnel Manager in the shipping industry. With his long and valuable experience in personal management of vessels owned by various foreign principals, he commenced operations of Herald Maritime Services.
