About Us

In October 1958, Raúl dos Santos began his activities as a Maritime Agent in the port of Asunción, attending to the overseas refrigerated ship, “Henry Horn” of German flag chartered by FF Hansen SRL for the transport of frozen meat from Asunción for transshipment to ships older in Buenos Aires.

The Maritime Agency and stevedoring activities expanded and in 1959 the representation of Scansa Line was assumed, the first direct service between Asunción, New York and other ports on the East Coast of the United States with small coastal vessels.

Since 1962, representations were successively obtained for Paraguay from prestigious shipping companies such as JOHNSON LINE, ROYAL MAIL LINES, GREEK SOUTH AMERICAN LINE, NIVER LINE, BRODIN LINE, NORSKE SYD AMERIKA LIJN, NETUMAR LINE, HOULDER BROTHERS, FROTA OCEANICA BRASILERIA, ITALY CROWLEY AMERCIAN TRANSPORT LINES among others.

In 1967, in order to efficiently serve the largest number of companies represented, Raúl dos Santos transformed the sole proprietorship into PARAMAR SRL in partnership with Mr. Wolfgang W. Sandke, who a few years later left the organization.

NAVEMAR SA, was originally constituted in 1969 under the name of Transmarco SRL, which assumes representations of river navigation companies such as Vilas y Cia. SA, Naviera del Litoral SA, Trafluem SA Yacimientos Petrolifos Fiscales, Ferry Lineas, Lunmar Naviera SA and others.

In 1971 the incorporation to the company of the second generation began, with the entry of Jorge E. dos Santos, who left the company in 2002. Ricardo Raúl G. dos Santos joined in 1974 and Carlos EA dos Santos, in 1976 who left the company in 1983.

PARANAVE SA was established in 1971 as an assembly company, which in 1976 acquired the first vessel of the group of companies, the TAITA port tug with only 80 HP. Over the years, various additions of tugboats and barges have consolidated the company currently focused on container transport between the ports of Asunción, Buenos Aires and Montevideo with continuous deck barges, tugboats and a container ship.

Starting in 1972, PARAMAR SRL was also appointed General Sales Agent of prestigious airlines such as Scandinavian Airlines Systems- SAS, South African Airways – SAA, THAI AIRWAYS, Aeroperu, TAM and SPANAIR.

Since 1979, Navemar has acted as agents and operators of direct ship services between Asunción and European ports for PLATA MAR LINE, PARAGUAY LINIE, EUROPE PARAGUAY LINE (EPAL) and later the Management of TRANSBARGE DE NAVEGACION-RTZ and others.

In 1990 UNITRANS SA was established, originally with partners from abroad. Shipping company dedicated to the transport of solid and liquid bulk cargoes in convoys of barges and push tugs.
