OVER 50 YEARS OF MARITIME EXPERTISE

Winslow Marine is the product of one man’s dedication and service to his country. Originally a paint salesman, Eliot Winslow felt a higher calling to serve his country, and became an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Due to his leadership abilities and discipline he quickly became the Commanding Officer of the Cutter Argo, and at the close of the war, accepted the surrender of a top secret German Submarine carrying military technology destined for Japan. After manning the fleet and doing his part, Winslow returned to Maine and began to build a fleet of his own, operating out of Southport. Eliot became a first class pilot responsible for escorting ships into ports up and down the Maine coast, and bought tugs to be used for vessel assistance. In 1968, Eliot began providing tugs and services to Bath Iron Works, which has supplied the Navy and Coast Guard with warships since the late 1800’s. As of 2016, Winslow Marine has provided assistance for 95 Bath-built vessels, including the newest Zumwault class DDG 1000’s. In 2006, Eliot passed away at the age of 97, and his son David has faithfully and professionally run his father’s company ever since. Today Winslow Marine is a well known tug and barge company in New England which offers timely and honest services as it has for over 50 years.
