Safe and efficient Engine Room Watchkeeping and machinery performance monitoring in accordance with applicable regulations, Chief Engineer’s standing orders and company policies and procedures, and maintenance of the Engine Room Logbook. Perform pertinent planned maintenance activities in accordance with the vessel’s program, as instructed by the Chief Engineer. Ensure that all hazardous work is carried out under controlled conditions and all safety procedures observed: permit to work, Confined Space Entry, Job Safety Analysis, Lockout/Tag Out, etc. Arrange for all piping and structure repairs carried out on board to be conducted in accordance with good engineering practices and pressure tests, where applicable, be conducted safely. Training and supervision of Junior Engineers and Engineering Cadets.
